Mount Pleasant Habitat for Humanity’s current built is progressing. The windows are all in. The house is wrapped in insulation. The back door is in place.  This Saturday, 9/01/17, volunteers will be putting the siding up and the front door in place. Everyone is welcome to come join the fun and fellowship.  Work starts at 7:30 a.m. Don’t miss out on that great feeling of satisfaction for a worthwhile job well done.

Deck Almost Done

July the 8th and 15th saw a hard working group of men putting the fascia boards and decking  on our current Habitat house.  It took muscle, lots of energy, and sweat, but the deck is almost done.

Nisha Miller led a crew of women welding shovels in shifting mounds of dirt and concrete making the path around the house smother and safer for all the workers. Dayna spent most of the day in a hot trailer organizing tools and supplies. Having this house in the dry is a light at the end of a tunnel.

    Volunteers Needed

Mount Pleasant Habitat for Humanity needs volunteers, either single or groups, to prepare and serve a light meal each workday.  Pizza or sandwiches are appreciated by these dedicated workers. Perhaps your club, Sunday School class, or family would like to take on this job one Saturday.  If so please contact Jaletta Farmer at the Habitat office to schedule a Saturday that will work for you. New Habitat President

Mount Pleasant Habitat for Humanity has a new president. Shane Webb, pastor of  First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, was unanimously elected to the office at the June

Shane Webb

14, 2017 board meeting.  Reverend Webb replaces Ronnie White who has served as president  the past three years, the time limit he can hold that office according to the Mount Pleasant Habitat bylaws.

Thankfully, Ronnie White will continue volunteering his services to Mount Pleasant Habitat.  It is an organization he believes in. Ronnie led us through two complete house builds and launched us on our present house. He has served on numerous committees over the years and has promised to continue with those responsibilities.

Work Day this Saturday

Mt. Pleasant Habitat for Humanity will be having a work day this Saturday (06-24-2017) starting @  8:00 AM @ 908 E. 9th. We will need all hands and the cook to help move the panels we build Saturday from Tennison Methodist Church to the build site on E. Ninth. Hope to you tomorrow at Tennison or the build site on Ninth Street.

Women’s Build 2017

Who knew that hard work could be so much fun?

Women and men joined together May 6, 2017 to begin construction of our newest Habitat house.  Kristin Bogart, pastor of St. Andrew  United Methodist Church was our key note speaker and got us off to a great start.  Panels were built behind Tennison United Methodist Church and moved to the building site.  They will be raised as soon as the  cement can be poured for the foundation.

Forms are Built

The Norman Barnhart Concrete Co. from Leesburg built the forms for our new Habitat House April 13. Plumbers will do their thing than back to the concrete crew. We’ll be ready for the 2017 Women’s Build May 6th.  Be sure to get your team signed up and T-shirt sizes turned in to Jalette in order to insure your special shirt will be available.

Women’s Build

Mark your calendar for May 6, 2017. That’s the BIG DAY for Mt. Pleasant’s Habitat for Humanity’s Women’s Build.   The pad is ready and the concrete men and plumbers are lined to prepare the site for the BIG DAY. With your help, we will be RAISING THE WALLS of our current house building project.

We need 50 people, 3/4 of them women, to qualify for the Lowe’s grant that will help us cut costs on the new Habitat house.  We hope churches, banks, businesses, and other organizations will put a team together and join us, Saturday  May 6, and raise the walls of our newest house on East 9th Street.
